Okay, I saw a picture post of my son from 9 years ago and it prompted me to write the following… so get ready for a long one. 😂❤️
Time is something we can never get back.
After having my son, one of my biggest goals in life became being as present as I possibly could with him.
My first 10 years in the corporate world were great. I learned A LOT, met some amazing people, and had experiences I’ll always be grateful for.
But those last 7 years were different. There were constant structure changes, new people coming into roles, new expectations, and somewhere along the way, I became completely absorbed in trying to get everything done. Meet the metrics. Hit the goals. Check the boxes. Keep pushing.
And then I left.
If you asked me how many people from my old job at Unilever have reached out since my last day, I could probably count them on one hand.
And honestly?
I’m okay with that.
Because what I got back was something much more valuable than another email, meeting, or performance metric.
I got TIME.
Time with my family. ❤️
I got to build a company with my family The Taste of Curiosity . And while our adventure has definitely had its share of hiccups (because apparently entrepreneurship doesn't come with an instruction manual 😂), we have each other.
We bounce ideas off each other. We celebrate the wins. We survive the crazy days. We figure things out together.
And somewhere along the way, something really special happened…
Some of our customers became like family, too.
I think back to the last year of my corporate career when I was sitting on a call trying to write my “purpose statement” for work.
I remember struggling with it.
Now I know why.
At the time, I was trying to put my purpose into a corporate-friendly sentence.
Today, I realize it was actually pretty simple:
I want to be an entrepreneur who gets to use my creativity to make a difference in the lives of children and families through food, play, and learning.
And somehow, that little sentence became my life. ❤️
The Taste of Curiosity has become so much more than a cooking studio to me. It’s a community. It’s a place where kids can try something new, make a mess, learn something, laugh, and hopefully walk out thinking, “I can do that!”
And I absolutely love the community we continue to build.
So, if you’re ever in the Orlando area, come say hi. Seriously. We’d love to see you. You might even get put to work in the kitchen. 😂
And finally…
A very big thank you to my #1 dude, Liam.
The little boy who unknowingly changed the entire direction of my life.
Thank you for always believing in me, cheering me on, and reminding me what actually matters.
Please stop getting so grown. 🥹
I’m so proud of you, and I cannot wait to see what you do with this crazy, wonderful life of yours.
Here’s to choosing time over titles, memories over metrics, and building a life that actually feels like yours.
And yes… if you made it this far, congratulations. You survived the long blog 😂❤️
